Throughout the constant journey of life you are often under pressure. There is pressure to satisfy, pressure you put about yourself and the pressure that other people put on you. Throughout the perform Death of a Salesman by Arthur Callier and the brief story " Brother Dear” by Bernice Friesen, the characters end up facing these kinds of pressures every day. Both plotlines show how people can easily experience these pressures, for any different factors, during various times in their life.

In Fatality of a Sales person, Biff, a son with the main personality, Willy, is definitely struggling with the pressure make an impression his dad and gratify him. Willy is constantly complaining about Biff, saying he is a bum and it is not good. Eventually Biff chooses he is likely to try to enter into business, the same as his father, hoping to help to make Willy completely happy. He echoes to his mother relating to this, " It can just-you observe, Mom, I actually don't easily fit into business. Certainly not that I won't try. I am going to try, and I'll generate good” (Miller 60). Biff knows that he may not be successful in the business world and this it is not to get him, but he is going to try it anyhow just thus his Daddy will be pleased with him. The pressure to fulfill his daddy is so big that Biff is ready to do something this individual does not wish to accomplish just to produce him cheerful.

Similarly, in " Brother Dear” Greg is also under the pressure to satisfy his father. Greg wants to be a member of Green Peace, plant trees, and save the planet, while his father wants him to attend University, just like his big brother, and make something of himself. His younger sister Sharlene explains, " He's in pre-law at college or university, but his marks are crap. I do think he entered law just because Dennis do and Father hasn't ceased sheering” (Friesen 3).
