Margret Bourke-White was developed on Summer 14, 1904 in The Bronx, New York. Margaret's father, Paul White, was of Polish-Jewish background. He was an developer and an engineer. He believed in equality in education and chance for all his children. Margaret's mother, Minnie Bourke, was of Irish-English ancestry and was a caring and growing mother. Minnie was doing her degree at the time of her death. Maggie was married twice; once to Everett Chapman, once she was but 18 years old; and also to Erskine Caldwell, the copy writer, in 1939, after they acquired worked with each other.
